A Letter from Javelina Club Board of Directors President

The Javelina Club is the principal fundraising arm of Javelina Athletics. With the support of enthusiastic and loyal supporters, the Javelina Club supports all of Texas A&M University-Kingsville's intercollegiate athletic programs and is committed to making a difference in the lives of our exceptional student-athletes. Each year, the Javelina Club raises over a quarter-of-a-million dollars for student-athlete scholarships and without this support, many of these scholarship opportunities would not be available for our championship athletic programs.

As we strive to provide the financial support needed to win games and graduate student athletes, we are always aware of our commitment to doing so the right way, as defined by NCAA by-laws. As we are involved in promoting the athletic interests of Texas A&M University-Kingsville, we must follow NCAA rules and regulations. All Javelina fans, friends, alumni and supports must remember that they are prohibited from contacting a prospective student-athlete in person, by providing transportation, entertainment, meals or anything of material value to student-athletes and/or their family members. Regardless of one's intent, any violation might jeopardize a prospective student-athlete's eligibility and/or bring sanctions upon Javelina Athletics.

Before I close, I'd like to share several points of pride.

  • Thirty-four conference championships and seven national championships in football;
  • 2009 NCAA Division 2 post-season regional tournament in men's basketball;
  • 2008 Lone Star Conference champions and NCAA Division 2 post-season regional tournament in baseball;
  • 2007 selection for NCAA Division 2 post-season tournament in softball;
  • Hosted a 2009 and 2010 NCAA Division II Football Playoff game;
  • Entire Athletic Department was honored with a NCAA Game Day Environment award in 2010 and 2011;
  • Ryan Dall, 2010 and 2011 LSC Men's Track & Field Coach of the Year.

At the same time, Javelina athletes not only compete on the field but achieve in the classroom at rates exceeding those of the traditional college student. In 2011-2012, over 40 student-athletes from all sports will cross the stage and receive their diplomas as proud graduates of Texas A&M University-Kingsville.

I hope you will consider supporting Javelina Club with your time, energy and donations and look forward to meeting you at a future event or gathering. Never forget,

Once a Javelina, Always a Javelina!

Brad Womack
